Tottenham Hotspur are hoping that Alejo Veliz will be as good a signing as Destiny Udogie or Pape Matar Sarr.
According to The Athletic, Spurs fought off competition from a number of other teams before acquiring the striker in a £13 million deal this past summer.
It feels meaningful that Alejo Veliz has been in Tottenham’s previous two Premier League games, even if only for a few minutes in both victories over Liverpool and Luton.
Spurs fans most likely had low hopes for the 20-year-old’s early impact. However, Ange Postecoglou does not appear to be a coach who gives away minutes for the sake of giving them. So the fact that he is already playing in the Premier League says something.
Tottenham is hoping that Alejo Veliz can be as successful as Destiny Udogie.
According to The Athletic, Tottenham are hoping that Veliz will be as good a signing as Destiny Udogie and Pape Matar Sarr have been. One year after his £15 million move to North London, Udogie has been a revelation this season.
If Veliz can achieve such heights, it will be tremendous for Tottenham. Udogie has been terrific and has cemented himself as the first-choice left-back.
Ange Postecoglou certainly sees something in Tottenham striker
It will take something spectacular for Veliz to establish his influence at striker anytime soon. But it’s evident that people have high aspirations for him.
Journalist Alasdair Gold suggested on the Gold and Guest speak Tottenham podcast that Veliz had impressed everyone in Spurs training.
So it appears that he has gotten off to a faster start than many predicted. As a result, after the international break, he may play an increasingly prominent role.
If such is the case, it indicates that Postecoglou believes he is getting closer to being ready for the opportunity.
