Pundit Don Hutchison claims that Nottingham Forest’s late move for Divock Origi was the most “pointless” deal of the summer window.

The Belgium international joined the team on loan from AC Milan, the biggest team in Italy, in the last hours of the transfer window, capping a deadline-day switch for the former Liverpool striker. Origi has not yet made a start for Forest, but since moving to the City Ground, he has appeared as a late substitute in each of the team’s four Premier League games.

Despite receiving little playing time, the striker developed a reputation for scoring significant goals throughout his eight years at Liverpool. Forest is hoping to accomplish the same thing this season.

After struggling to score goals in his debut season with Milan, the 28-year-old went to Forest. In 36 club appearances in 2022–2023 he scored twice, which meant he dropped down the Italian team’s hierarchy.

When naming who he thinks has been the worst transfer of the summer window so far, Hutchison pointed out the striker’s lack of starts for both Milan and Forest. He told ESPN FC: “I was loathe to use the word worst, but the pointless transfer I could have gone for was Divock Origi.
