Naby Keita, a midfielder for Liverpool, has begun contract negotiations with the organization
Keita has had a difficult time staying healthy this year, and as a result, Liverpool has had a rough start.
Although Fabio Carvalho and Harvey Elliot have frequently filled two of the midfield spots, there are doubts about their defensive awareness and expertise in these areas.
Keita’s current contract expires at the end of the current campaign, therefore Liverpool run the risk of losing him on a free transfer the following season if they fail to sign him to a new one.
According to Football Insider, Liverpool and Keita have now started contract negotiations.
The Merseyside club doesn’t want to lose Keita for nothing, and at this point, the midfielder is free to sign a pre-contract with a different European club in January.
Keita may not have a future at Liverpool as a regular starter, but by giving him a new deal, they can sell him for a profit rather than let him depart for free the next summer.
