According to a Fotospor report, while Galatasaray has offered Kerem Akturkoglu a new contract, clubs such as Tottenham would be willing to quadruple the compensation offered by the Turkish club.
Tottenham’s interest in Akturkoglu was reported earlier this month when Fotomac claimed that the Lilywhites were monitoring the winger, who has five goals and seven assists in 16 matches across all competitions so far (Transfermarkt).
Aksam said a few days ago that Spurs have already begun negotiations for the 24-year-old, claiming that they have approached Galatasaray as well as the player’s entourage about a January transfer.
The outlet names Spurs and West Ham as the two clubs interested in Akturkoglu’s signature and suggests that the London duo would be willing to offer a salary of at least €2m-€2.2m per year (£1.7m-£1.9m), which is double of what the Istanbul club are willing to.
Our Opinion
Akturkoglu has two and a half years left on his RAMS Park deal, thus Galatasaray are not under any obligation to transfer the winger in January, even if he is unwilling to sign a new contract for the time being. They may re-evaluate the issue next summer.
