Jamie Carragher thinks he constantly hearing ‘crap’ about Tottenham Hotspur fans.
Carragher was speaking on Monday Night Football about Spurs’ latest victory.
Tottenham defeated Fulham 2-0 Friday night, thanks to goals from Son Heung-Min and James Maddison.
Spurs were not at their best against Fulham, and Ange Postecoglou even chastised his team after the game.
However, the victory returned Tottenham to the top of the Premier League table, and Jamie Carragher believes their fans should relish the occasion.
Carragher on what he continues to hear about Tottenham fans
Carragher says that Tottenham fans should be allowed to enjoy the moment and celebrate their team’s early-season triumph on Sky Sports.
“Yeah, they are enjoying it and I don’t think this is necessarily about Tottenham being top of the league,” the commentator replied. “I think it’s just a vibe among the players; they’re enjoying themselves, the manager, and the football they’re playing, and they’re milking it.”
“Well done to them. You’ll have the celebration police out tonight, telling everyone to enjoy themselves. They’ve earned it.”
Carragher makes an excellent point in stating that Tottenham fans have every right to revel and celebrate their team’s early-season success.
Fans are sometimes chastised for over-celebrating triumphs, and Spurs fans have received similar treatment this season.
But why shouldn’t Spurs fans celebrate their team’s outstanding start to the season? They’ve had some awful results in recent seasons, and Postecoglou has been a breath of fresh air for the North Londoners.
After four years of more pragmatic managers, Tottenham fans are finally enjoying watching their team play football again.
It’s still early in Postecoglou’s employment, but with Spurs leading the league for the time being, their fans have every right to enjoy the positive vibes at the club.
