Brighton: De Zerbi given a lift as the “amazing” star resumes full training

The Seagulls have received an encouraging update…

Brighton & Hove Albion are riding high this season under Roberto De Zerbi, sitting as high as seventh after impressive victories against Manchester United and Newcastle United. Meanwhile, the Seagulls won their first point in the Europa League with a 2-2 draw against Ligue 1 Marseille.

To make matters worse, this comes after the loss of Moises Caicedo and Alexis MacAllister in the summer. De Zerbi’s job is one of the most impressive in not just the Premier League, but also in European football as a whole, and the manager has now received yet another boost.

Brighton team news and injury updates
Brighton needed injuries in midfield after losing both Mac Allister and Caicedo in the summer. Despite the fact that they are only nine games into the Premier League season, they are already without Julio Enciso and Solly March. With games in both Europe and domestic tournaments coming thick and fast, they needed a positive on the availability front at some point, and they’ve got it ahead of games against Ajax and Fulham.

The fresh Jakub Moder injury news has undoubtedly helped De Zerbi. According to The Sussex Express, the midfielder has returned to full training after missing over a year due to an ACL injury suffered against Norwich City in April 2022. This means that Moder has yet to appear under De Zerbi, showing how long he has been forced to watch from the sidelines.

Moder returns at a good moment for the Seagulls, as they attempt to earn their first Europa League victory against Ajax and return to winning ways in the Premier League against Fulham.

What became of Jakub Moder?

Moder joined Brighton for a reported £7 million in the summer of 2020, before returning on loan to Lech Poznan until the end of the season. Moder finally got his Brighton career going the next season under Graham Potter, before injury struck. And the 24-year-old has been having nightmares ever since.

Moder had two surgeries after tearing his ACL in April 2022, missing the conclusion of the 2021/22 season as well as the entire previous campaign, in which Brighton earned a Europa League spot. The Polish midfielder will not be pushed back into the squad now that he is back in training, but he will begin to earn his way back into the group for the first time under De Zerbi.

When completely fit and at his best, Moder has received high acclaim in the past, including from former Poland manager Paulo Sousa, who told TV Sport via The Argus: “I don’t like to individualise.” The last Premier League game at Brighton was incredible. Of course, the tempo differs. It is difficult to integrate and play more frequently in these top divisions. He is a fantastic player on the court. Physically, he is a huge lad. The intensity is something he needs to work on a lot.”
