Leeds’ star player may have played his final match under Farke, given what happened against Huddersfield.

Following his outing against Huddersfield Town, Wilfried Gnonto may have played his final game for Leeds United.

Leeds United are presently third in the Championship table, and manager Daniel Farke‘s side is looking quite strong.

With Leicester City dominating the league and the Foxes far ahead at the top, the West Yorkshire squad could have done even better. Farke, on the other hand, will only be concerned with his players’ performance, which is currently great.

After losing 1-0 at Stoke City on Wednesday, October 25, a speedy turnaround was required, and that’s exactly what happened at home against Huddersfield Town on Saturday (October 28).

Daniel James and Crysencio Summerville, two Terriers wings, each scored a brace in the 4-1 victory, despite Michal Helik scored late for the home club.

While Farke will be thrilled by the goals from the Whites’ offensive duo, another winger, Wilfried Gnonto, may not be.

The young Italian, who has missed numerous games this season, was forced to watch from the sidelines as his teammates scored four goals in the first half at Elland Road. At the hour point, Farke introduced Gnonto, who took the place of one of the game’s heroes, Summerville.

The 19-year-old ended up staying in West Yorkshire, despite not doing himself any favours at Elland Road over the summer.

However, given that Gnonto has struggled to get into the lineup when healthy in recent months, it is questionable if this was the best option.

If players like Summerville and James continue to put up strong performances—Jaidon Anthony is also competing for a starting spot—the paucity of minutes will surely endure.

Though Leeds Live (24 October) reported that the Whites would consider selling the teenager if a £30 million approach came in during the January transfer window, speculation about Gnonto leaving Elland Road hasn’t died down.

The talented attacker could sustain another injury before the next transfer window opens, or he could take a tough stance in the coming months, attempting to anger his management and force his release. In any scenario, he may never play for the Whites again.
