According to reports, a player sold by Leeds United has been offered a chance to join Real Madrid.

Kalvin Phillips, a former Leeds United midfielder, has been offered a move away from Manchester City by Real Madrid.

According to Central Defence, both City and Phillips are considering January moves, with Real Madrid having been offered the chance to sign him through intermediaries.

Phillips is almost destined to leave the triple winners when the transfer window reopens in January, as he has struggled to find consistent minutes since joining from Leeds.

The 27-year-old was told he could go in the summer but chose to stay and fight for his position, which has eventually backfired.

Despite missing Rodri for two games due to suspension, Phillips has yet to start a Premier League game this season. He also made just two starts last season, both of which came after City had already been crowned Champions.

Phillips is desperate for regular minutes this season as he attempts to solidify his place at the heart of Gareth Southgate’s midfield ahead of the European Championships in Germany next summer.

Despite a paucity of game time at club level, he has remained a somewhat consistent figure for England, but Phillips knows that must change.

According to the source, City is aiming to sell Phillips for around £50 million, which would represent a profit on the £42 million they paid to bring him from Leeds.

 

While Real Madrid has been offered the opportunity to sign him, it is expected that they will not spend anything near the stated asking amount.

In reality, this is possibly a blessing in disguise for Phillips, as Madrid’s midfield competition is arguably even fiercer than City’s.

In Carlo Ancelotti‘s engine room, there are possibilities such as Jude Bellingham, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Federico Valverde.
