Hugo Lloris remains a Tottenham Hotspur player.
It’s difficult to believe because we haven’t seen him play this season, but the Frenchman is still on Spurs’ books.
The goalkeeper is currently in limbo as he appears to be out of Ange Postecoglou‘s plans at Spurs, but he is the club’s former captain and remains on the books.
Martin Lipton, speaking to Off The Ball, clarified Lloris‘ situation at Spurs, saying that the club has told the custodian that he is free to leave with their permission, implying that a January move for the custodian is possible.
Lloris is free to go.
Lipton revealed what he knows about the £13 million man.
“They told him he could go with Lloris. You’ve been brilliant with our blessing, but it’s time to move on. He took a look, but none of the offers appealed to him. He has a year left on his contract, which will not be renewed, and he may decide in January that he needs to play. “I don’t understand why he’s staying when Dier has a role to play, even if it’s not on the pitch,” Lipton said.
What options does he have?
Lloris is in a difficult situation here because he isn’t wanted by Tottenham and there aren’t many top clubs in need of a goalkeeper of his calibre right now.
David De Gea, for example, is already having difficulty finding a new club, while Aaron Ramsdale has been unsuccessful in his attempts to leave Arsenal.
Lloris needs to leave Tottenham, but whether or not he can find a new club at the right level remains to be seen.
