Sources: Wilfried Gnonto is ‘unhappy’ at Leeds United.
According to Football Insider, Wilfried Gnonto is dissatisfied with his situation at Leeds United as the January transfer window approaches.
The 20-year-old, who has lately returned from injury, played just one minute as a substitute against Leicester last week (3 October).
Gnonto has started just one of Leeds‘ last four Championship games as the club looks to return to the Premier League as soon as possible.
Daniel Farke has been content to keep offensive players like Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter, Dan James, and Joel Piroe together – and has seen no reason to bring the Italy international back into the fold permanently.
Gnonto, on the other hand, wants to play regular first-team games in order to make the Azzurri’s roster for next year’s European Championships in Germany, should they qualify.
The winger’s services are expected to be sought again in the January transfer window.
As the mid-season transfer window approaches, Football Insider revealed last week (1 November) that Premier League clubs are interested in Leeds trio Gnonto, Summerville, and Ethan Ampadu.
Gnonto was one of numerous Whites players who went on strike in the summer in order to secure a trade, but he was finally reintegrated into Farke’s side.
However, he has only one goal and one assist in ten appearances this season across all competitions.
With an ankle injury, the 20-year-old missed four games, including Italy’s key qualifiers against Malta and England.
Following his joining at the club last year (2022), his contract at Elland Road is slated to continue until June 2027.
He had four goals and four assists for Leeds last season, however they were relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2022-23 season.
The Whites’ next game is against Plymouth on Saturday (November 11).
