Brighton beat Rangers to a £7 million striker, and an important January transfer to Arsenal is getting closer.

Transfer gossip and news: While on loan at Rangers, Brighton striker Abdallah Sima is beginning to show his true potential.

According to Rangers‘ Eastern European scout Piotr Kasprzak, if things had gone differently, Sima could have moved to Rangers permanently in 2021 instead of Brighton.

Sima was on the radar of both Brighton and Rangers after impressing in the Czech top flight with Slavia Prague.

The Seagulls, on the other hand, made the decisive move, paying £7 million for the Senegalese ace.

He quickly spent an injury-plagued loan at Stoke City in the Championship before moving to Angers in France for a season. Sima, who has never played for Brighton, struggled to find his best form at both clubs but is now flourishing on loan at Rangers, having scored nine goals so far this season.

“We remembered him from Slavia Prague days.” “He came to Slavia and became a sensation,” Kasprzak tells Goal. “But we couldn’t afford to spend that much money on him at the time.” He traveled to Brighton.

“We probably wouldn’t have gone for him in the summer if it hadn’t been for the fact that we had him in our database from his time at Slavia and he was stuck in our memory.” And he’s now one of our best players. This previous work has been completed, albeit with a delay.”

Sima’s contract at Brighton will be terminated after his loan at Rangers expires.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are planning a January raid on Brentford to sign striker Ivan Toney. According to TEAMtalk, Toney has informed Brentford that he wishes to leave in the coming window. The striker, who scored 20 goals last season, is currently on suspension for violating FA gambling rules. The £100 million-rated front runner has returned to training and will be ready to play in January. Chelsea are also said to be interested.
