After years of speculation about Harry Kane’s future, Tottenham finally sold him this summer.
Spurs‘ talisman left north London for Bayern Munich in the summer, and many wondered how Tottenham would replace the England captain.
Many players were linked to Tottenham as potential Kane replacements, but no one could have predicted what happened next.
Indeed, Spurs chose not to sign a direct Kane replacement, instead relying heavily on Heung-Min Son as a striker this season.
Ange Postecoglou spoke to TNT Sports about his thought process when it came to replacing Kane, and he admitted that it was an impossible task, claiming that there aren’t many strikers out there who can do what Kane did.
Postecoglou did name one player who could have potentially replaced Kane – Erling Haaland – but as we all know, luring the £51 million Norwegian away from Manchester City would be impossible for even the world’s most powerful clubs, let alone Tottenham.
Haaland is one of the few players who could step in for Kane.
Postecoglou discussed Kane‘s situation and how the Spurs could have replaced him.
“You try to come up with solutions, and one thing I knew was impossible was to replace Harry.” There will never be another Harry Kane. You can give me £200 million, but there aren’t many of those around unless you go after Erling (Haaland). It’s impossible, so you ask yourself, ‘What solutions exist?'” Postecoglou explained.

Postecoglou is completely correct; there simply aren’t many strikers of Kane’s calibre available, and none are attainable for Tottenham.
Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, and Robert Lewandowski could probably do it, but Spurs were never able to sign any of them.
Postecoglou was dealt a bad hand in this situation, but he struck gold by making Son the Kane replacement and using him up front.
Postecoglou has handled the situation admirably, it must be said.
