Leeds United are looking for a £7 million star to replace a departing attacker.

Leeds United midfielder Wilfried Gnonto is being pursued by a number of Premier League clubs this January, and the club has already found a replacement for the departing Italian.

Wilfried Gnonto

As the Peacocks were demoted back to the Championship, Gnonto handed up a transfer request during the summer window. Everton were rumoured to be interested in signing him, but a deal never materialised.

Nonetheless, it has been claimed in recent weeks that the Toffees are unwilling to give up on signing Gnonto and will launch a new bid for the winger when the winter transfer window opens in a few weeks.

Gnonto’s game time at Elland Road has been limited this season, with the Italian international appearing only 10 times and scoring one goal.

Gnonto could end up sticking with the Yorkshire club for the rest of the season if Leeds are promoted back to the Premier League, according to journalist Ben Jacobs on Wednesday evening.

According to a recent TeamTalk report, Leeds United are keeping an eye on Fenerbahce winger Ryan Kent, who is anticipated to be made available for loan in January. According to the report, top-flight club Bournemouth would compete with Leeds for his contract.

This season, the former Rangers forward has made 14 appearances in all competitions for the Turkish club, with one goal and two assists.

Ryan-Kent

Kent joined Ibrox for £7 million in 2019 during Steven Gerrard‘s tenure as manager, but left for free in the summer to join Fenerbahce. Now, the Turkish giants want to loan out the 27-year-old for the rest of the season.

Author’s Opinion

If the reports are genuine, it appears that Leeds United are planning to trade the former FC Zurich player once the winter market opens, with Kent lined up as his successor.

Nonetheless, this could be dangerous. Kent is not as good as Gnonto, and his departure could leave Daniel Farke with little depth for his wide players in the second half of the season.
