Arsenal and Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Brighton & Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson, giving Liverpool more competition for his signature.
The 19-year-old attacker has been in excellent form for the Seagulls this season, scoring five Premier League goals and attracting interest from Liverpool.
According to TeamTalk, Mikel Arteta‘s Arsenal and Chelsea are both interested in signing the Republic of Ireland international, with Tottenham and Manchester United also interested.
Ferguson, who is valued at £100 million, is easily one of the most in-demand players in the Premier League heading into 2024, with many top clubs interested in signing him.
And, for Liverpool, interest from Arsenal and Chelsea, both of which want to sign a long-term striker for the 2024/25 season, could cause major issues.
Ferguson’s physicality and finishing ability, combined with his age, have nearly every Premier League big-six chasing the striker’s signature, much to Liverpool’s chagrin.
Liverpool may lose the race for Evan Ferguson to Arsenal or Chelsea.
With Darwin Nunez superbly leading the line for Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to consider bringing in a striker as his next big attacking signing.
As a result, Ferguson could end up at Arsenal or Chelsea next season, with both London clubs looking for a long-term option to spearhead their respective offenses.
With Brighton also demanding a large fee for Ferguson, Liverpool may be making a wise decision by gradually withdrawing from the race to sign the Irish wonderkid.
Furthermore, with Mohamed Salah expected to leave next year, putting pennies in the transfer kitty for a winger would be a better use of Liverpool’s limited funds in the summer market than a move for Ferguson.
