Spurs aim to sign a ‘complete’ defensive “asset” similar to Jose Gimenez, who is likely to arrive in January.

Tottenham are competing with Manchester clubs and Liverpool for the 17-year-old defensive prodigy.

Tottenham Hotspur are said to be interested in one of the best young players in the Republic of Ireland.

Spurs are one of several Premier League clubs interested in St Patrick‘s Athletic defender Sam Curtis, according to 90Min.

Tottenham are not the only clubs interested in signing the 17-year-old. Manchester City, Manchester United, and Liverpool are also interested.

Furthermore, it appears that all of these clubs have a solid possibility of acquiring Curtis. According to the article, St Pat’s “fully expect” the player to leave during the off-season.

The League of Ireland season runs from February to November, so if Curtis left in January, there would be no mid-season disturbance.

Tottenham is looking for a ‘complete, stylish, and dominant’ defensive player.
The Spurs currently have the best Under-21 team in the country. This season, they have won all eight of their Premier League 2 games.

Curtis would most likely start in the youth levels, but he appears to have what it takes to break into a Premier League club’s first-team.

The kid has now made 60 competitive senior appearances for St Pat’s, including 36 this season, with three goals and three assists.

Curtis has been regarded as a “complete, elegant, and dominant centre-back” who is “versatile and well-rounded/able to play anywhere along the backline” by Jacek Kulig of Football Talent Scout.

Curtis was also given an 8 out of 10 potential rating by Kulig, implying that he is “first-team material in a top European club” and was likened to Atletico Madrid and Uruguay star Jose Maria Gimenez.

According to Transfermarkt, Curtis has made 27 appearances at right-back and 10 at center-back during the 2023 season.

Curtis appears to be a strong fit for Tottenham‘s scheme. However, he will undoubtedly face competition from other Premier League heavyweights for his signature.
