“Very nice” An analyst at Sky Sports was greatly impressed by a “classy” Tottenham player today.

Rodrigo Bentancur’s performance for Tottenham Hotspur today wowed Alan Smith.

Smith was co-commentating on Sky Sports throughout the game and singled out the Spurs midfielder for praise.

Tottenham got off to a fast start against Aston Villa tonight, creating many chances early on.

Within the first ten minutes, Dejan Kulusevski hit the post as Spurs consistently got in behind Villa’s high defensive line.

Giovani Lo Celso eventually opened the score with a well-struck attempt from the edge of the box, helped by a tiny deflection from Ezri Konsa.

Spurs looked strong in the first half, with Rodrigo Bentancur playing a key role in some of their best moments.

After recovering from a lengthy layoff due to an ACL injury, the 26-year-old was given his first start of the season.

His day was cut short by a late challenge from Matty Cash, who forced him off with another injury. Alan Smith, on the other hand, was impressed with what he saw from the midfielder in the early parts of the game.

Smith was impressed by Bentancur’s performance.

Smith praised Bentancur as a ‘classy’ operator in the middle of the park on Sky Sports.

“But Bentancur, he’s shown some classy touches out there,” he went on to say. “He’s a really good player who has gotten off to a fast start in this game.”

“He’s wanting to get on the ball and try to make things happen.”

Later in the half, he added, “He’s been pivotal to Tottenham’s bright start here.”

Spurs dominated the first half but failed to capitalise on their chances in front of goal.

Pau Torres levelled things up on the stroke of halftime, making Ange Postecoglou‘s men rue their missed opportunities.

In the second half, Tottenham continued to control and generate chances, but Villa proved to be more clinical.

Spurs were defeated 2-1 as Ollie Watkins scored just before the hour mark, despite continuing to produce in the final third.
