For a pitiful £3 million, Pascal Gross has turned out to be one of Brighton’s greatest acquisitions ever.
For their inaugural Premier League campaign, Albion signed the German in 2017 from Bundesliga team FC Ingolstadt, and he has since become a legend within the team.
His place in the Sussex team’s legend is assured, having helped them qualify for Europe for the first time in their history and keeping them in the top division with his goals in the 2017–18 campaign.
To date, the 32-year-old has 30 goals and 42 assists in 251 appearances for Brighton but comparing him to other influential figures in the Premier League can provide some perspective.
Gross has created 433 chances in the Premier League since the start of the 2017/18 season, according to Between the Lines.
Only Manchester City‘s Kevin De Bruyne, one of the world’s best players, has created 544 chances since then.
The German international, who made his international debut earlier this season, has also scored 10 goals in his last 18 Premier League games and is Brighton‘s all-time top-flight scorer with 28. Not bad for a £3 million purchase.
