Paul Merson and Chris Sutton differ on their prediction for Chelsea vs. Brighton. – In light of Lewis Dunk’s claim.

This weekend, Chelsea and Brighton are anticipated to let the floodgates open, with either team capable of giving up a goal or two.

Chris Sutton

When Chelsea and Brighton play this weekend, Paul Merson and Chris Sutton have predicted a goal frenzy. On Sunday afternoon, the Blues and Seagulls will meet at Stamford Bridge as both teams attempt to move up the Premier League standings.

After a heartbreaking loss to Newcastle United, Chelsea will be eager to get back on track. Prior to their trip to St. James’ Park, the west Londoners had had a respectable run, defeated Tottenham Hotspur and earning a hard-fought point from Manchester City.

Roberto De Zerbi‘s side is unbeaten in four Premier League games, though they have only won one of them. While Brighton are upbeat, they have a crucial Europa League group stage match against AEK Athens on Thursday evening and will be without Lewis Dunk due to suspension.

Merson described the Seagulls captain as a ‘big miss’ in his weekly column for SportsKeeda. “This one could go anywhere,” the former Arsenal midfielder predicted, predicting a 2-2 draw. It’s a difficult game to predict. You never know what you’re going to get with Chelsea.

“I thought they played well in the first half against Newcastle United last week.” I thought they were the superior team, but they simply did not show up for the second half.

Brighton is the same way. You never know what you will get. In the last seven or eight games, they haven’t won many. They’re on a bit of a run right now.

“They had gone five games without a win before last weekend’s game against Forest.” They have now gone six games without losing. They’re starting to pick up. Lewis Dunk will be sorely missed after being sent off against Nottingham Forest. This will be a hotly contested election.

Sutton spoke to BBC Sport and gave his thoughts on Chelsea’s upcoming match. “I just have to laugh when I think about trying to make a prediction here,” the former Blues striker said.

PAUL MERSON

“Every week, I say how I have no idea what to expect from Chelsea, and every week, I’m wrong.” They are so inconsistent, and Brighton are also difficult to predict right now because they concede so many goals.

“However, I believe I will be correct about Chelsea at some point, and this time I believe they must respond after losing so badly at Newcastle.”

Brighton play AEK Athens in Greece on Thursday night and, because of that, I am going to go with Mauricio Pochettino‘s side to edge a high-scoring game… so stand by for a 0-0 draw that is last on MOTD2. 3-2.”
