Brighton coach Roberto De Zerbi and chairman Tony Bloom both received awards at the 2023 Golden Boy Awards in Turin.
De Zerbi was named the best Italian coach in 2023 by the Pozzo award. He succeeds previous winners Carlo Ancelotti (2022) and Antonio Conte (2021).
Brighton finished the 2022-23 season in sixth place in the Premier League, a club record. Before taking over for Graham Potter in September 2022, he was considered a relative unknown in English football.
Meanwhile, Bloom, Brighton‘s majority owner and chairman, was named Best President for his leadership in leading Brighton to their first season in European competitions.
The creators of the Golden Boy awards, Tuttosport, cited Brighton’s data-driven approach to analysis and their money-ball approach in the transfer market as reasons for his nomination.
The outlet also sent representatives to present the awards to the Brighton couple in person earlier this week in London.
