Daniel Farke reveals what Patrick Bamford has been telling Georginio Rutter behind the scenes at Leeds United.

Daniel Farke believes Patrick Bamford is still an important member of the Leeds United squad and is eager to assist his teammates in front of goal.

Bamford‘s experience is telling in the Whites dressing room, despite the fact that he has yet to start this season, as Georginio Rutter and Joel Piroe continue to fire on all cylinders.

Patrick Bamford

Farke has revealed that, despite not having played much this season, the 30-year-old is still an important member of the squad who has seen it, done it, and got the T-shirt.

“When I speak about Patrick [Bamford], I can’t praise his character enough because he’s always the first one who celebrates with Georgie [Rutter] and Joel [Piroe] when they score,” Farke told the Yorkshire Post on Friday (8 December).

“Even in training, they have a lot of fun together.”

“At half-time, he sometimes goes to a young player like Georginio Rutter and gives him some hints about his movements and what he can do better.”

Wise minds

Bamford, like cult hero Luke Ayling, remains an important member of the team despite his game time decreasing exponentially due to injuries.

With Piroe and Rutter both in free-flowing form for Leeds at the moment, the Englishman could be in for a long season on the sidelines. But he is aware of this.

Bamford has been a class act this season and throughout his Leeds tenure, rather than sulking and reacting as some might expect. The striker’s attacking brain should be picked apart by the younger generation after stints in the Premier League, Championship, and League One.

In addition to his club career, Gareth Southgate‘s decision to give him his one and only England cap in September 2021 demonstrates how good a player he can be when fit and confident. But it’s been a while since Bamford has been in the spotlight.

Despite only playing 147 minutes this season, Bamford is much more than a squad player. He is and always will be a member of the Elland Road family.
