Despite previous reports that Atlético Mineiro had given up on signing Gustavo Scarpa from Nottingham Forest, it appears the Galo are willing to try again.
According to Goal Brasil, the Belo Horizonte club is making a new attempt to ‘convince’ the player to return to his home country.
Scarpa, who is on loan from Nottingham Forest to Olympiacos, is said to be open to talks with Atletico Mineiro in the coming weeks.
Galo is said to have ‘confidence’ that the player can ‘change his mind’ and has finally given his ‘approval’ to such an operation.
The Brazilian club is said to be willing to pay €4 million for the signing, and the Premier League club is said to be ‘pleased’ with that figure.
Scarpa joined Nottingham Forest on a free transfer in January, but after a disappointing six months at City Ground, he has been loaned to Olympiacos until the end of the season.
Things haven’t gone well for him in Greece, either, but the player still believes he can succeed in Europe, which is why he’s been difficult to persuade.
