Daniel Farke has made it clear how Leeds United should resolve the left-back issue against Sunderland.

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has been urged to give Djed Spence a start at left-back this evening, with Sam Byram and Junior Firpo both injured.

Leeds travel to the North East to face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. Farke’s team will look to maintain their impressive form in order to keep the pressure on the top two in the race for Premier League promotion.

On Saturday, goals from Daniel James and Crysencio Summerville secured a crucial 2-0 win away at Blackburn Rovers, extending the Whites’ unbeaten run to seven games.

In the automatic promotion race, they are still seven points behind second-placed Ipswich Town and eight points behind league leaders Leicester City, but they have increased the gap between themselves and seventh-placed Cardiff City to 11 points to cement their position in the play-off places.

They now face Sunderland, who are in the play-offs despite sacking head coach Tony Mowbray last week. On Saturday, the Black Cats defeated fifth-placed West Bromwich Albion 2-1 on Wearside and will look to make it back-to-back home victories under interim manager Mike Dodds.

Leeds, on the other hand, must do so without any of their established left-backs. Archie Grey has made the right-back position his own this season, and summer signing Spence has had to settle for a bench spot since returning from injury. With left-back options limited this evening, Leeds fans are hoping to see Spence given a chance at the position.

Fans want Grey and Spence to flank centre-halves Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk in the back four, according to the results of our Leeds Live team selector, with keeper Illan Meslier also keeping his place.

Fans would like to see Ethan Ampadu and Glen Kamara at the base of midfield, Dan James and Crysencio Summerville on the wings, and Joel Piroe playing just behind Georginio Rutter up front.
