According to Football Insider, long-term Tottenham absentees Micky van de Ven and Ryan Sessegnon are set to return from injury in January.
Among Spurs‘ first-team stars in the treatment room, the duo are in the most advanced stage of recovery.
After the Dutchman’s injury in November and the Englishman’s setback in February, they could be back in action by the end of January. Spurs are still dealing with the crippling injury crisis that derailed their strong start to the Premier League in Ange Postecoglou’s first season in England.
James Maddison, Rodrigo Bentancur, Manor Salomon, and Ivan Perisic are among those who have been injured and will be out until February or later.
Van de Ven, a £34.5 million summer signing, suffered a hamstring injury in the Lilywhites’ 4-1 loss to Chelsea last month (6 November), the same game in which Maddison injured his ankle.
Before his injury, the centre-back had emerged as one of Tottenham‘s best players this season, thanks to his impressive defensive displays alongside Cristian Romero, and had played every available minute in all competitions.
Sessegnon, 23, hasn’t played since last winter due to a devastating hamstring injury. He had surgery in July and last appeared in Spurs’ 1-0 win over Manchester City last season.
The attacker’s debut season for Spurs was hampered by injury, and he has been sidelined since joining from Fulham in 2019, missing 70 games.
Tottenham currently sit fifth in the Premier League after a 4-1 win over Newcastle United on December 10th, and will travel to the Midlands to face Nottingham Forest on Friday night (15 December).
