Ange Postecoglou was frank in the media this week about Tottenham’s desire to buy a center-back in January.
The Australian stated unequivocally that Spurs require reinforcements in that area, and Spurs may have found their guy.
According to Fanatik, Tottenham are nearing an agreement with Genoa to sign Radu Dragusin.
The transaction is estimated to be worth €30 million (£25 million), and it is an intriguing move to say the least.
Dragusin, who is only 21 years old, is an intriguing young talent with a lot of space for development.
The player has based his game after Virgil van Dijk, which is incredibly exciting to say the least.
Of course, like with every transfer rumour, take these stories from abroad with a grain of salt, but the player’s agent has previously been open about speaking with Fanatik, and this is a very Spurs move.
Indeed, Tottenham has recently enjoyed digging into the Serie A market, so adding a new defender from Genoa makes perfect sense.
Dragusin was previously on the books at Juventus, so he’s a player Fabio Paratici will be familiar with. While Paratici isn’t presently working for Spurs, he is rumoured to be doing a lot of consultancy work for the club, so we wouldn’t be surprised if this was one of his proposals.
Tottenham appear to be getting their January business done early for the first time in a long time, and Dragusin could be the first through the door in north London this winter.
It remains to be seen whether other additions will follow, but given Spurs‘ current lack of midfield depth, we wouldn’t be surprised if that position is next on the list.
Dragusin is a talented player, and it would be intriguing to watch how he performs in the Premier League if this trade is completed.
