The Premier League manager now wants to sign the 27-year-old Leeds United player on a permanent basis

Everton manager Sean Dyche wants to sign Jack Harrison on a permanent basis from Leeds United.

Harrison was one of eight senior members of last season’s first team squad to leave on loan in the summer, joining Everton on a one-year deal in August.

Leeds had hoped to keep Harrison throughout the summer but were unable to do so, with Angus Kinnear expressing the club’s disappointment at his departure.

Despite reports that Everton have a £20 million option to buy Harrison, Leeds Live has since reported that this is incorrect, despite Dyche’s strong desire to sign him permanently.

David Ornstein confirmed at the time of Harrison’s departure that Everton would look to sign Harrison in the near future. With survival already looking likely despite a 10-point deduction, it wouldn’t be surprising if they went ahead with that now.

Harrison’s long-term agreement benefits all parties.

Harrison has been adequate, if a little inconsistent, during his time at Everton, with a couple of excellent performances interspersed with some equally poor ones.

Leeds fans will not be surprised, as despite his impressive numbers in the Premier League, he was always prone to blowing hot and cold.

With that in mind, regardless of whether Leeds is promoted back to the Premier League this season, a permanent deal benefits all parties.

At this point, it is unclear how much Everton would have to pay to sign Harrison, but given that he only signed a new long-term deal at Elland Road in May, it should be significantly more than the £11 million he cost Manchester City to sign.

Fortunately, Leeds are well-stocked for players in his position, and the possibility of Luis Sinisterra returning early from his loan has been mentioned.
