After being linked with a move to Leeds United, the club is now planning to sell their ‘unbelievable’ player

Leeds United have identified Sam Curtis as a target ahead of the January transfer window, and the club are now expecting to sell the young defender – and are preparing for life without the Irish talent.

Sam Curtis

Curtis, who turned 18 earlier this month, has caught the attention of clubs like Leeds and Celtic after starring for St. Pat’s during the 2023 season. This season, he played in 39 senior games.

With the Irish season over, the Ireland U21 star is expected to move on. A player described as “unbelievable” by his teammate Tom Grivosti. Celtic and Leeds are both interested.

As are Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool. He recently faced Willy Gnonto in a 2-2 draw between Italy’s U21s and Ireland. After being demoted by Italy, Gnonto scored twice in this game.

According to the Irish Independent, Curtis is ‘expected’ to join St. Pat’s preparations for life without the child in January. It could pave the way for Leeds and other clubs to make a move.

Sam Curtis, a Leeds target, is expected to leave St. Pat’s in January.

Curtis is an exceptional performer. A player who has already played in 60 games before reaching the age of 18. He could be a valuable addition to Daniel Farke‘s squad in the future, if not immediately.

Is Leeds his best option? Given that he has already been a regular at the senior level, he should join a club where he has a realistic chance of making the first team. A move to one of England’s top sides might not be ideal.

However, a move to Leeds, where contracts for Sam Byram, Luke Ayling, Jamie Shackleton, and Stuart Dallas all expire in June – and Djed Spence is only on loan – could provide him with an opportunity to break into the first team.
