A new Tottenham Hotspur target has emerged for Jose Mourinho’s January shortlist

According to one outlet, AS Roma are interested in signing Spurs left-back Sergio Reguilon, who is also wanted by Borussia Dortmund.

Sergio Reguilon

Destiny Udogie has been an excellent left-back option for Ange‘s rejuvenated Tottenham. rival full-backs, such as Sergio Reguilon, have fallen out of favour as interest from rival teams grows.

According to Il Romanista, Reguilon has piqued the interest of Serie A club AS Roma, coached by former Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho. A move for the Spaniard would make sense, according to Giulio Curto, because “Roma could use the opportunity to replace Spinazzola, whose contract expires at the end of the season.”

Sergio Reguilón
The former Real Madrid star has struggled to find playing time in North London in recent years, having spent the entire 22/23 La Liga season with Atletico Madrid and the first half of this season with Manchester United. Reguilon, on the other hand, has struggled to find playing time with both teams, appearing in just 12 games for Atletico and 10 for United.

According to Transfermarkt, his market worth has depreciated over the years to around £8.6 million, implying that he would be an acceptable price for a mid-season move for a player who could find his stride under the right manager.

Jose Mourinho

Reguilon spent the majority of his time in the starting XI for Mourinho at Tottenham, appearing in 29 games for the Portuguese boss. A move to Serie A would make perfect sense for the 27-year-old, who will be eager for more playing time at this point in his career.

Borussia Dortmund have also showed interest in signing the player, according to Sky Sports (via The Spurs Web). While Reguilon is expected to continue in Manchester for the duration of the season, a break clause in his contract may force him to return to North London sooner, making a prospective transfer all the more likely.

Tottenham are unlikely to sign another left-back anytime soon, with Destiny Udogie‘s contract just extended until 2030 and Ryan Sessegnon set to return from injury soon.
