A hometown striker would be a better addition for Leeds United than Che Adams

This summer, Leeds United will need a striker, but Che Adams might not be the greatest choice.

With three games remaining to guarantee a spot in the Premier League the next season, Leeds United has not yet decided how to go in their promotion push. As things stand, they are ranked third in the Championship table.

If they maintain that ranking, the Whites’ only chance of making an instant return to the top flight will be to play in the play-off lottery.

Whatever happens at the end of the current campaign, the club will be making preparations for the summer window. Leeds will be planning for both success and disappointment, and Che Adams is one player who is reported to be on their radar.

The Southampton player has already been connected to a move to Elland Road, but as his contract expires at the end of the current campaign, his departure may be possible.

But Oli McBurnie is in a similar predicament and might be a better choice.

Similar to Adams, a target for Leeds United, McBurnie’s contract expires this summer. Upon joining the Blades in 2019, he inked a four-year contract, and last year, an extension option was exercised to retain him in the team. However, there isn’t a fresh contract in place to let him stay longer.

Despite Sheffield United’s struggles, McBurnie has achieved a commendable six goals and three assists in 20 Premier League games this season. An improved choice over Adams?

McBurnie, who was born in Leeds, has previously excelled in the Championship while playing for both the Blades and Swansea. His season total indicates that he has goals in him to play in the top division as well.

In that regard, Adams is quite comparable, having achieved the most of his career in the second tier.
McBurnie, though, might be Leeds United’s better choice. His defensive cover could be helpful in drawing in attackers such as Georginio Rutter, Wilfried Gnonto, and Crysencio Summerville.

Furthermore, he might easily settle with his hometown team because he was a former teammate of who is desired permanently.

McBurnie might be a wise addition for Leeds United, regardless of the level at which they play the following season. Because of his character, he might be well-liked by supporters and a good fit for Daniel Farke’s team. It remains to be seen how his contract issue develops, but the Whites need to consider Adams as a potential replacement.
