Nikola Katic, a former Rangers defender, is expected to go back to the UK on loan.
Fraser Fletcher of TeamTalk reports that the defender will sign a loan deal with Plymouth Argyle through the end of the current campaign.
He said on X: “Niko Katic, a former Rangers defender, is expected to join Plymouth Argyle on loan till the end of the current campaign.
“Straight loan, Bosnian set to travel to complete the deal.”
The 28-year-old, who was a member of Rangers from 2018 to 2022, is now a member of FC Zurich in Switzerland.
Miron Muslic, the new manager, wants to strengthen his team before the transfer deadline on Monday.
The bottom of the Championship table is where Argyle is rooted. After 29 games, Wayne Rooney‘s former team has just 22 points.
Muslic is working feverishly to keep his club up, as the south coast team is seven points from safety.
Due to a string of injuries, Katic has been linked to a return to Rangers to provide Philippe Clement with defensive cover.
Rangers had reportedly made Zurich an offer for Katic on Tuesday.
The strong center back, though, is destined for England’s second division.
