Daniel Farke, Leeds United’s manager, has released team news for the Championship trip to Birmingham City on Saturday as well as an update on Willy Gnonto.
Liam Cooper, Crysencio Summerville, Patrick Bamford, Georginio Rutter, Mateo Joseph, Tyler Adams, Jack Harrison, Junior Firpo, Sam Greenwood, and longer-term absentee Stuart Dallas were among the ten players Farke was without for Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup match at home against Shrewsbury Town.
Gnonto, a 19-year-old forward from Italy, was “unavailable” but not injured, Farke said in the post-game press conference on Wednesday night. He also did not make the matchday roster.
At the pre-Birmingham press conference on Thursday at Thorp Arch, Farke gave an update on Gnonto and mentioned that Rutter and Greenwood had been training. He also suggested that Rutter might be able to play against the Blues.
The Whites manager declared, “The signs are quite good.” “He may come along. It’s a huge boost for our talented front-row guys. There’s a possibility for the weekend.
“There’s nothing to add to what I spoke about yesterday,” Farke said of Gnonto. Willy was in training today. Let’s wait and see what occurs on the weekend. My plans include every player I have on contract.
