“A VERY BIG STORY” REACTION TO WHAT MICHAEL OWEN HEARS ABOUT TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR

Tottenham Hotspur have suffered an end-of-season collapse, and the mood around the club is bleak.

Ange Postecoglou’s side had multiple chances to finish fourth and return to the Champions League, but Unai Emery’s Aston Villa triumphed.

They have repeatedly shot themselves in the foot, most notably during Tottenham’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester City.

It was an important game for a variety of reasons, the primary one being that Spurs might potentially help their London rivals in the Premier League title battle if they defeated Pep Guardiola’s side.

In the lead-up to the game, Postecoglou was told that some of his fans wanted to lose so that Arsenal wouldn’t have an advantage moving into the last weekend of the season.

Throughout the game, you could hear anti-Arsenal shouts from the home crowd, especially when Erling Haaland opened the goal, and the manager even got into a verbal argument with a supporter behind the dugout, though it’s unclear what that was about.

In any case, Postecoglou was unhappy after the game, and he made his sentiments known by declaring that the club has ‘fragile foundations’ both within and outside.

When Michael Owen heard those remarks, he was surprised since he couldn’t exactly comprehend what the 58-year-old was alluding to.

The Spurs manager did mention that these concerns surfaced ‘in the last 48 hours’, which added to the intrigue.

However, Owen believes that something is developing behind the scenes at Tottenham Hotspur Way and that a ‘major story’ is likely to break, as reported by Premier League Productions (14/05/24 at 10:50 pm).

Angry Angel Postecoglou rips into Tottenham Hotspur

“He doesn’t look happy, does he?” Owen replied to Postecoglou’s comments. “I’m wondering what that could be. Whether he has met with the folks listed above. Whether they had already begun to plan for the next season, which would surprise me.

“That’s confusing. But there is absolutely something that is influencing and upsetting him right now.

“When you think about foundations. What may have changed over the last 48 hours? It cannot be the playing squad. It cannot be the facilities. The training facility is likely the greatest in the country. The stadium is considered the best in the country. It must be something up above. It must be a behind-the-scenes meeting with the top scouts, chairman, or whoever is in charge of recruitment. That will come out, I am sure, in the next few days because it appears to be a very major story in the works.”

You cannot blame Tottenham Hotspur supporters.

Let’s be clear: almost every supporter would do what several Spurs fans did on Tuesday night.

If the situation had been reversed, Arsenal would have preferred that their team lose as well.

Yes, there was an unusual mood inside the stadium, but you can’t blame that on the team’s performance because they played well.

In truth, if Spurs had used their chances, they should have scored and earned at least a point.

Perhaps Tottenham fans are correct to question why their team did not play like this in the north London derby. Or away to Chelsea and Newcastle United?
