According to journalist Alasdair Gold, Tottenham Hotspur are now open to any bids for Djed Spence this summer.
Gold alleged in his new YouTube video that Spence had failed to impress Ange Postecoglou.
Spurs have started well under Postecoglou, winning 2-0 against Manchester United on Saturday after a good performance at Brentford.
The Australian manager is rapidly implementing his ideas at Tottenham, but he is well aware of the necessity to cut a bloated team before the transfer season closes.
Indeed, there is a long list of Spurs players who are facing unclear futures, and Djed Spence is one of them.
And Gold says that Spurs are set to let Spence go this summer after he failed to impress Postecoglou.
Spurs are ready to dump Spence.
Gold has stated that the Spurs will consider ‘all offers’ for Spence, who has struggled to make an impact throughout preseason.
“Djed Spence, Spurs will listen to any offers for Spence,” he explained. “He’s done nothing to impress Postecoglou.”
“Unless there are injuries, he will not play this season.” So yet, the only attention has been from the Djed Championship.
“I guess it’s up to him whether he moves down to the lower league.” Spurs should accept a loan because I don’t think they’ll get anywhere to what they paid for him right now.
“They might just need to get a loan, do well in the Championship, and rebuild himself.”
“I guess this will be a good test to see if Djed is just comfortable sitting around at a Premier League club or whether he will be happy to go back to the Championship and kind of reboot, start again, and show everyone what he can do.”
Spence just joined Spurs from Middlesbrough last season in a £15 million deal.
The 23-year-old appeared to be the ideal wing-back for Antonio Conte, but he battled for playing time under the Italian.
He spent the second half of last season on loan at Rennes, where he likewise struggled to secure a starting spot.
It would be a shame to see Spence leave Tottenham without receiving a chance. However, it appears that Postecoglou is not sure that the youngster is a good fit for his system.
Both Emerson Royal and Pedro Porro have had strong starts to the season, and it’s difficult to imagine Spence breaking into the starting lineup anytime soon.
