Gold revealed what he had learned about the £22 million player during Tottenham’s opening match of the season.
Many of Tottenham’s top players have returned to pre-season training, and the club held a secret behind-closed-doors friendly against Cambridge United this weekend.
The game ended 7-2 in an utter goalfest, and while there isn’t much to take away from an exhibition game like this, there are some intriguing stories that come out of it.
Indeed, speaking on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast, Alasdair Gold revealed some details about the Cambridge game, stating that he was told Heung-Min Son was on top of his game in the friendly.
“That was one thing I was told; a couple of folks thought Sonny looked great. He appeared to be as sharp as if he had never been abroad. “That’s very good news,” Gold added.
Son’s standards have been high for a long time, but as we witnessed during the 2022/23 season, he may have dips when he’s not doing well.
Son was injured for most of the 22/23 season, which hampered his performances, but he appears to have remained fit over the summer, and he is determined to push Spurs to the next level.
Son recently remarked that joining Spurs was the best choice he has ever made, so he will undoubtedly want to see the north London team succeed.
Even though it’s just a preseason match against lower league competition, getting into a groove early on might help you boost confidence and get off to a fast start in the Premier League season.
Son could end up having a tremendous season for the Spurs, and who knows? Don’t be at all surprised. Maybe this term he may win a second Golden Boot.
