Eddie Gray claims Leeds United have a Leeds United’s win at Middlesbrough on Monday night has given them more hope in the race to finish in the top two, after both Ipswich and Leicester were in question before the match.
Leeds have not won in their previous three games, picking up only one point. Middlesbrough, on the other hand, had won five of their last nine games and remained unbeaten. Nonetheless, Leeds emerged victorious. The opposing team is terrified of this player.
Even after Isaiah Jones gave Boro the early lead. Leeds immediately rallied, with Georginio Rutter winning a penalty for Cree Summerville to score and Patrick Bamford bundling in a Junior Firpo cross.
Billy Sharp created a cross that resembles Stewart Downing’s. Summerville, on the other hand, dominated the game from start to finish. He was not finished with the penalty. He now has 30 goals and assists.
Crysencio Summerville shows why he’s the Player of the Season.
He set up Willy Gnonto‘s goal and our third with a beautiful reverse pass, which the Italian converted. Leeds added a fourth when Summerville cut inside and fired one into the far corner – his 20th goal.
Summerville dominated the game and defeated Boro, putting Leeds back in contention for automatic promotion. Leicester secured a stunning victory over Southampton on Tuesday night.
The Saints capitulated and finally lost 5-0 against Southampton, effectively confirming Enzo Maresca’s side as Championship championship winners, while Russell Martin‘s Southampton will face the play-offs.
What Eddie Gray said about the Leeds winger this morning:
Speaking to TalkSPORT on Tuesday morning following Leeds’ victory over Carrick’s team, Elland Road icon Eddie Gray was asked about Summerville, who has struggled recently, scoring only twice in the previous eleven games.
He enthused about the Dutchman, telling Jeff Stelling and Ally McCoist that he is “tremendous” and scares the crap out of his opponents: “He is a phenomenal player for us. He can score goals and find people.
“He placed defenders under strain. He goes at them and takes them on; having someone with that ability to take people on puts defenders under a lot of pressure, and he has been fantastic for us.”
