Both Premier League clubs have expressed interest in signing the 27-year-old on a free transfer after his contract with the King Power expired last month. Iheanacho already has offers on the table from teams in Greece and Turkey, but both Forest and Ipswich are hopeful of enticing him to stay in England.

The clubs are now poised to present formal contract proposals to the striker in the hope of winning the race for his signing.

Nottingham Forest and Ipswich Town compete to recruit Kelechi Iheanacho.

Iheanacho spent seven years at Leicester, moving from Manchester City in 2017, where he appeared 232 times and scored 61 goals. Throughout his six seasons with the Foxes in the Premier League, he scored 30 goals. He subsequently struggled for regular game time in the Championship last season, starting only 12 games while averaging 42 minutes and scoring six goals.

Despite his decline in form, Forest and Ipswich are still eager to give him another chance in the Premier League.

Forest’s interest was initially revealed by Football Insider on July 5, as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side kept a careful eye on the striker’s status in the face of other offers.
