After a cruel rejection; Adrien Rabiot changes his mind giving Tottenham the final laugh.

A few years ago, Adrien Rabiot brutally turned down a move to Tottenham, but he has since made a grudging comeback. Rabiot, who left Juventus in July and is presently a free agent, may be able to go even though the transfer market has closed.

The 29-year-old Frenchman has reportedly offered himself to both Tottenham and Arsenal in an attempt to get entry back into the league after being out of the game. Although teams in Saudi Arabia and Turkey have made offers to him, it’s known that he would want to join with a squad in one of Europe’s top leagues.

Rabiot’s salary demands, meanwhile, may wind up impeding such a move; according to sources, the midfield player is requesting almost £220,000 per week. To put it into perspective, just five Spurs players make more than £100k a week, with Son Heung-min being the highest paid player at £190k.

Throughout the summer, Ange Postecoglou’s side was quite active. In addition to shattering their own transfer record by paying £65 million for Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke, they also lavished an additional £71 million on four exceptionally gifted young players.

Rabiot has a problem because two of those young players, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, are in central midfield. With players like Rodrigo Bentancur, Pape Matar Sarr, and Yves Bissouma also in the lineup, Spurs probably won’t be too desperate to accept the France international’s come-and-get-me offer.

Still, Rabiot’s situation is quite the 180 from when he said Spurs were “below” his level when they attempted to recruit him in 2018. Rabiot was searching for a way out of Paris Saint-Germain at the time after having a falling out with Thomas Tuchel, the club’s recently hired manager and future Chelsea manager.

Some of the greatest teams in Europe, including Barcelona and Juventus, were vying for his signature, indicating how interested they were in him. This may account for his lack of interest in moving to Tottenham. Nevertheless, at the time, the North London club was leading.

They were frequent participants in the Champions League and had been positioned as championship contenders in the Premier League under Mauricio Pochettino. They also made it to the Champions League final for the first time a few months later, but that was insufficient to convince Rabiot to go to N17.

At the end of the 2018–19 season, he ended up signing a free transfer to Juventus, while Spurs signed Tanguy Ndombele. Rabiot made a name for himself as a first team regular in Turin, and his club success enabled him to secure a starting position in Didier Deschamps’ France squad.

Rabiot was left out of the most recent team, nevertheless, since it is said that Deschamps wanted him to get experience playing club football before reintegrating him. As things stand, it appears likely that the former Manchester City youth star will leave Europe unless he is ready to reduce his pay demands.
