After the Plymouth Argyle forward “didn’t show up” for their most recent game, Rangers may try to sign Morgan Whittaker again.
Following Plymouth’s 5-0 home loss to Burnley on Wednesday, manager Miron Muslic acknowledged that his absence was unscheduled since he had neglected to present for duty at Home Park.
Whittaker is not the first player to be aggressively connected to a transfer to push for the departure, and his most recent move could rekindle the Gers’ long-standing interest in the 24-year-old.
“We had a game today and he was in the selection and he wasn’t there,” Muslic stated in statements published by the BBC on January 22.
It demonstrates the mindset—or lack thereof. I believe that you are always bound by a contract and have obligations.
Following Morgan Whittaker’s no-show, Rangers must pursue his transfer.
Even though Burnley, a team in the Championship, has reportedly expressed interest in Whittaker, his failure to show up for Plymouth this week should have Ibrox on high alert [BBC, 21 January].
Since Philippe Clement has yet to decide who he should play on the left wing in the most important games, the Bears have been clamoring for a wide forward with Whittaker’s skill set.
Both Ianis Hagi and Nedim Bajrami have played wide this season, but they both feel much more at ease in the number 10 position, whilst Jefte and Ridvan Yilmaz are left-backs who play farther forward.
Although Whittaker would be costly, selling someone like Cyriel Dessers, who is currently the team’s third-choice striker, would make up for the cost. Whittaker’s addition would revolutionize the balance down the left.
Dessers is tied to the departure door himself and is much behind Hamza Igamane and Danilo in the hierarchy [Scottish Sun, 16 January], so replacing him with the wantaway Whittaker would be a great coup in light blue.
But he would have to immediately check his attitude.
