After confirming Bayer Leverkusen’s future, Xabi Alonso seemed to be hinting at a Liverpool U-turn.
Following his incredible Bundesliga victory with Bayer Leverkusen, Xabi Alonso has attracted interest from teams like Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

Xabi Alonso concedes that he “doesn’t know what it means for the future” despite Bayer Leverkusen having just won their first Bundesliga title.

The squad’s first-ever league victory was orchestrated by the Spaniard and was completed on Sunday with a 5-0 victory over Werder Bremen. Leverkusen is hoping to win both the German Cup and the Europa League, as they haven’t lost a game this season.

 

Several of the greatest names in Europe have taken notice of Alonso’s efforts to disrupt Bayern’s 11-year reign of the Bundesliga. For the upcoming campaign, Alonso’s former teams, Liverpool and the Bavarians, are searching for new managers.

Although the 42-year-old has stated that he will stay at Leverkusen, he made a statement while celebrating his team’s championship victory that has drawn criticism.

He remarked, “It’s much easier when I feel like the team is behind me, that they want to believe.” It was quite enjoyable for me to feel that the crew was truly committed, and it gets lot simpler after that.

It feels fairly amazing right now, but I’m not sure what it will entail in the long run.

Despite attention and rumours that he was considering transfers elsewhere, Alonso recently stated that he thought staying in his current position was the best thing he could do. He stated there was still work to be done at Leverkusen and that he was still in his first significant role as a manager.

“I met with club officials last week and told them that I will be staying on as coach of Bayer Leverkusen,” he stated. “After having numerous conversations regarding my future, I took the pause to think things through and decide. As a young coach, I believe this is the ideal location for me to be.

My tenure at Bayer continues. I want to support the team and the players’ growth. The board is excellent, and everything about this place is wonderful.

It’s predicted that Alonso will eventually take over at one of the teams where he used to play. Jurgen Klopp needs to be replaced at Liverpool, and Thomas Tuchel needs to be replaced at Bayern. Another of Alonso’s former teams, Real Madrid, has Carlo Ancelotti under contract.

After Leverkusen’s championship was secured, Max Eberl, the new sporting director of Bayern, gave a special tribute to Alonso. “Your football has thrilled the Bundesliga,” he remarked. FC Bayern’s winning run has ended, but we’re going to give it our all to assault once again.
