After Leeds United’s victory, Steven Schumacher reads a message from Daniel Farke to the Plymouth squad.

Steven Schumacher has disclosed that Daniel Farke entered the Plymouth dressing room after the Pilgrims’ defeat to Leeds United on Saturday, November 11.

The Whites were forced to work hard in their 2-1 triumph at Elland Road, with goals from Dan James and Joel Piroe in the first half ensuring that Ben Waine‘s second-half strike was merely a consolation for the visitors.

The result leaves Daniel Farke‘s side third in the Championship and eight points outside the automatic promotion positions, but Argyle manager Schumacher stated the German entered their changing room to compliment the away side.

“That atmosphere at the start of the game is one of the best I’ve ever heard,” Schumacher commented, according to Adam Pope (11 November). After the game, Daniel (Farke) came in and said, “We’re a top side.”

Excellent outcome

It should come as no surprise to Leeds United supporters that Farke has once again been a class act in his short time at Elland Road, and the same was true against Plymouth on Saturday.

Plymouth came to Leeds with the intention of remaining in the game, as many sides have done at Elland Road this season, and made it a difficult afternoon for the Whites, even if it felt like one-way traffic towards Michael Cooper‘s goal for long stretches.

Argyle truly put Farke’s side to the sword in the latter minutes of the game, and had they had a bit more cutting edge to their attacking play, they may have stolen a point and made Leeds lament their own missed chances.

The Whites could have been home and dry in the first half if Piroe or Georginio Rutter had their shooting boots on, but the away side never gave up and made Farke and his team work exceptionally hard to take all three points.

It is a tribute to Leeds that they still managed to take all three points on Saturday, especially given that this is a habit that teams vying for automatic promotion must have.
