Agent calls Leeds United player’s loan exit “bizarre”; purchase makes more logic

In an effort to escape Elland Road, Leeds United winger Jack Harrison signed a season-long loan deal with Everton in the summer.

However, some have questioned why it is only a loan.

With the exception of Sam Greenwood, virtually no players from the wave of loan departures in the summer will be warmly welcomed back in 2024.

Most players might not even consider the possibility of returning, with a permanent transfer to their new loan teams being their best choice.

Jack Harrison joined Everton for what reason?

Jack Harrison signed a loan agreement with Everton for the 23–24 season, just four months after signing a new contract with the team.

A race between the Toffees and Aston Villa to sign Harrison on Sunday, August 13, seemed to indicate that he was eager to complete a trade before his loan clause expired.

David Ornstein of Everton said that Sean Dyche‘s team intended to make the trade permanent in “due course” after Villa withdrew due to the winger’s continued injury worries.

Why didn’t they give him a long-term contract?

An anonymous agency, who described Everton‘s dealings as among of the worst in the window, has now questioned the arrangement to bring him in on loan from Leeds (in the Championship).

“Beto seems like a good guy.”

“But Jack Harrison on loan from Leeds — I do think he’s a fine player, but it’s a little odd that you’re loaning a player ‘up’, ” said the commenter. “And Ashley Young on a free and (Arnaut) Danjuma who turned them down six months ago. Everton should buy, you’d think.

The only way for Everton to acquire Harrison was through this loan agreement, but they will undoubtedly want to keep him long-term.

With the way he hugs the touchline and frequently throws crosses into the box—with clearly varied results—he appears like a very evident Dyche winger.

Because Harrison was obviously just as pleased to invoke his loan clause as the others, we supporters won’t be all that upset to see him leave.
