Agent says star who was set to join Spurs is now more likely to join rivals West Ham

A major agent with knowledge of a deal that appeared to see a world-class player sign for Spurs has openly said he is now more likely to join West Ham.

If an agent’s statements are to be believed, West Ham could gain an advantage over fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

This summer, the Hammers and Spurs have been connected with several common targets.

Ivan Toney, Dominic Solanke, and Matt O’Riley are three of them.

Another unexpected signing occurred last week as West Ham and Tottenham try to improve their teams ahead of the new season.

Federico Chiesa, an Italian superstar forward, has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Solanke

There were also rumors two weeks ago that Juventus star Chiesa was about to sign a deal to join Tottenham.

Last week, Gazzetta dello Sport reported that West Ham had also been in talks to buy the Juventus star.

Star appeared set for Spurs, but is now more likely to join West Ham.
With speculations spreading that Tottenham were on the verge of signing Chiesa, West Ham‘s approach appeared pointless.

The Juventus star can play anywhere in the front line, has exceptional technical ability, speed, and a dangerous shot.

Ivan Toney

So, why does Juventus want to sell? Ironically, to raise finances so that they may outbid West Ham for defender Jean-Clair Todibo and sign other targets.

Tottenham remained the clear favourites, as West Ham signed Crysencio Summerville and Niclas Fullkrug to join Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen.

But there’s an interesting twist.

Because an agent claims the player who appeared to be destined for Spurs is now more likely to join rivals West Ham.

Spurs‘ agent challenges their claims following West Ham‘s’request’.

West Ham goal

Bianconera News conducted an interview with prominent FIFA agent David Lavelle.

According to the source, Lavelle’s good ties with Juve management and the Premier League put him in an ideal position to address the Chiesa scenario between Tottenham and West Ham.

According to Lavelle, reports that Chiesa was close to signing for Spurs were merely speculations.

But he claims West Ham made an actual request, casting doubt on Tottenham’s willingness to spend £35 million for Chiesa.

Lavelle did, however, caution that convincing Chiesa to join West Ham or Fulham, both of whom have expressed interest, would be difficult.

“I haven’t heard anything about it (Chiesa joining Spurs), to be honest,” Lavelle told me.

“I haven’t heard anything official regarding the rumour. This is new to me.

“He is a very talented player. There is absolutely a probability (he will join the Premier League). I spoke with Cristiano (Giuntoli), and I believe he may find a role at a number of Premier League clubs. I can tell that we have received requests for a left winger from Fulham, who are willing to pay, and West Ham.

‘Tough to persuade him.’

“But it’s challenging. It will be quite difficult to persuade him.

“I mean, who among the big clubs in the Premier League has £35 million to spend on him?” It will be difficult to sell him. Tottenham may be an option for Chiesa, but they already have several players in that position. However, I doubt they’ll pay £35 million.

Chiesa can also play as a striker. There has also been speculation that the Hammers could sign another forward if Danny Ings and/or Michail Antonio leave.

Federico Chiesa

However, the Italian’s strongest position is on the wing, and West Ham are presently well-stocked in those areas with high-quality, younger players.

So it appears exceedingly improbable that the Irons will pursue this move. Even if fans would love to see West Ham beat Tottenham.

It could be an intriguing situation to see near the end of the window, however.

If Chiesa is still not sold, a loan with option or obligation may be of interest to the Hammers or Tottenham, both of whom are looking to compete in Europe.
