Damola Ajayi has been formally awarded his Legacy Number following his impressive first-team debut against Elfsborg on Thursday night.
Damola, a forward, came on as a late substitution for his first senior debut and had an immediate impact, scoring his first senior goal just three minutes into the game.
With us already ahead thanks to a first-time Dane Scarlett goal, attack-minded Academy graduate Damola was introduced off the bench on 81 minutes and made an immediate impact.
On 84 minutes, the 19-year-old darted inside from the right side, played a nice one-two with Dane, and stroked the ball into the near side of the goal.
He became the first player to score on his debut for the club since Arnaut Danjuma in January 2023, when he scored in our FA Cup victory against Preston. He was the first Academy graduate to do so since Alfie Devine, who also scored in the FA Cup when we beat Marine 5-0 in January 2021.
Mikey Moore, a fellow Academy alumnus, later scored his first goal for the club on an amazing night for our young system.
Damola, who scored on his debut, has now been allocated Legacy Number 892.
