‘Always be thankful…’ A Leeds United player waves goodbye before a £5 million January transfer move

Finlay Gorman has turned to Instagram to claim that he is on his way to Manchester City from Leeds United, despite no confirmation from the player or club.

Gorman is regarded as a next-generation talent. He’s already one of the top players his age, having played for England’s youth teams. He has now made five appearances for our Under-18 team, scoring twice and assisting on another.

Phil Hay recently claimed that despite a lack of activity following initial reports, the relocation would still take place before the January deadline. For a player his age, he would command a British record fee.

Hay claims he will cost more than £5 million if all incentives are met. Gorman has now confirmed his departure from Leeds, bidding farewell to his boyhood club and thanking Leeds for his development.

Gorman does not say where he is going, but it is commonly assumed that he will join Manchester City, and the youngster even likes several remarks implying as much. He made a post on Instagram yesterday night.

It is a game-changing play. Fran Merida joined Arsenal for £2.2 million, breaking the previous record for a player his age. Man City have chosen to pay it because they believe in Gorman‘s enormous potential.

Many young talents, like Gorman, have left Leeds for bigger clubs. Danny Rose moved to Tottenham from Leeds and went on to represent England. Chelsea added Michael Woods and Tom Taiwo.

They cost £5 million. Hopefully, Gorman will be able to break into Manchester City‘s U18 and U21 teams in the coming season or two, and make an impact on City manager Pep Guardiola.
