Fabrizio Romano has stated that there have been no recent conversations between Chelsea and Conor Gallagher’s camp about a new contract, despite the fact that Tottenham and other clubs continue to pursue the midfielder.
The Gallagher to Spurs whispers have been around for nearly a year, and as the summer transfer window approaches, the chatter appears to be rising.
According to Football Insider, Tottenham are still in strong contention to sign the England international this summer.
Although Newcastle are ready to fight with Spurs for the 24-year-old’s signature, the player is not interested in transferring to the North East and would want to stay in London.
HITC reported a few days ago that Gallagher’s representatives are now considering the possibility that their client’s time at Stamford Bridge is up.
According to the source, Ange Postecoglou’s team is now prepared to make an early bid for the Chelsea academy graduate in order to outbid the competition for his services.
There are still no contract discussions between Chelsea and Gallagher.
When asked about the latest developments on Gallagher’s future, Romano told CaughtOffside: “My latest understanding is that there has been no contact between Chelsea and Gallagher regarding a new contract, therefore it is up to the club to determine what they want to do.
“There’s interest from several clubs but I’m not hearing about anything being close or concrete now, the usual interest from many clubs, including Tottenham, is there, but there’s nothing new in terms of negotiations.”

Gallagher is now expected to leave Chelsea as his contract enters its last year.
Tottenham would not be overconfident in their chances of signing the midfielder, as the Blues may be unwilling to sell their academy graduate to their local rivals due to the probable fan backlash.
