Ange needs to let go of Kulusevski and release the “relentless” Spurs player

The disruptive ace could help halt Lilywhite’s losing streak.

Tottenham Hotspur have slipped back after a magnificent first half of the Premier League season, and with Sunday’s defeat to Liverpool, there is a real risk the club will lose five games in a row if Burnley defeats them today.
Ange Postecoglou has done an amazing job in his first year as manager in England, but he will need to do something tonight if the Lilywhites are to have a chance of qualifying for the Champions League at the conclusion of the season.
One of the moves he should make is to replace Dejan Kulusevski with one of the club’s most dangerous attacking players this season.

Dejan Kulusevski’s performance against Liverpool

There were several terrible performances against the Reds last weekend, and as a result, many changes might be made ahead of today’s encounter, but Kulusevski was undoubtedly Spurs’ most dismal attacker on Sunday, as Heung-min Son scored and Brennan Johnson assisted.

The Swedish international’s performance was also poorly received by the football press. London’s Rob Guest gave him a 4/10 for the day, noting that he ‘did very nothing in the final third’, which is a generous way to evaluate his performance.

In his 61 minutes of action, the 24-year-old did not take a single shot, had an expected assists figure of just 0.01, failed two of his three attempted dribbles, had a passing accuracy of only 85%, lost 50% of his duels, lost the ball ten times, and did not make a single cross or play a single long ball.
In essence, the former Juventus star was virtually invisible, thus he cannot start against the Clarets, especially as the team looked significantly more dangerous after he came off.

Player who should replace Kulusevski

Richarlison should replace Kulusevski today because he can play as the central striker. Son moves back to the left, and Johnson moves to the right.

This may not be the best setup for Spurs in the long run, but it was the setup when the team first started to look dangerous against Liverpool on Sunday, and the former Everton ace was at the heart of it.

In his brief time on the pitch, he managed to take two shots on goal and score one, and while he hasn’t had an outstanding season, he has been quite effective when given the opportunity.

In total, the “relentless” forward, as defined by journalist Joe Strange, has 12 goals and four assists in just 31 games (1737 minutes). This is the second-best goal involvement to minute ratio among the club’s primary attackers this season, after only Son.

Finally, while Kulusevksi is a quality player who has demonstrated this throughout his time at the club, he was horribly unsuccessful against Liverpool last week, thus he cannot start this time around, with Richarlison earning another start as the central striker.
