Ange Postecoglou confirms his starting XI for Tottenham’s match against Barcelona.

Ange Postecoglou has revealed that he will pitch a completely different starting eleven against Barcelona tonight than he did against Shakhtar Donetsk on Sunday.

Postecoglou would have been happy with his team’s performance against Shakhtar, with the Lilywhites putting the away team under constant pressure and creating opportunity after chance.

Spurs have now headed to Catalonia to face Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Trophy, which will be the Premier League club’s penultimate game before the season kicks off against Brentford on Sunday.

With just over 48 hours between the Shakhtar and Barcelona games, it was inevitable that Postecoglou would make changes, and the Tottenham manager has revealed that a completely new eleven would take to the pitch.

Postecoglou noted that he is excited to watch how his squad performs against the La Liga giants, noting that many of the players who will be on the pitch tonight evening had good pre-seasons.

“We’ve got training tomorrow (Monday), we’ll probably change the whole team for Tuesday night,” the 57-year-old said after Spurs‘ 5-1 triumph on Sunday.

“It’ll be a good test for us, a good challenge, because playing Barcelona away is always a difficult challenge.”

“It’s a great opportunity for us to try and implement again, and a lot of the guys who will play on Tuesday night have had strong pre-seasons, so I’m excited to have them out there.”

“Then we get ready for Sunday.” We’ll return from Barcelona with a strong advantage heading into Sunday’s game.”

With Barcelona likewise pressing fiercely and preferring to control possession, this evening’s match will be the first true test of Postecoglou‘s tactics.

While Tottenham will certainly not field their strongest eleven, it will be intriguing to observe how their game plan works against a team that is more than capable of playing through their press.
