Spurs manager is content with what he has for the time being.
A rash of injuries will not push Tottenham into the January transfer market unless the squad players given chances in the coming weeks fail to impress.
Ange Postecoglou has expressed his faith in the reserves, who are being thrown into the spotlight as the north London club faces a crisis.
Pape Sarr, James Maddison, and Rodrigo Bentancur are all out until the New Year, while James Maddison and Rodrigo Bentancur are all out till the New Year. Manor Solomon, Ivan Perisic, Ryan Sessegnon, and Micky van de Ven are also out indefinitely, while Richarlison is expected to return from a pelvic surgery this month.
With 10 first-team players unavailable at the Etihad Stadium, the likes of Barcelona target Giovani Lo Celso, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and Bryan Gil, who were placed on the bench at the start of Postecoglou’s tenure, are expected to receive a chance to shine.
The Spurs manager wants to get a good look at them before making a decision in the January transfer window.
Postecoglou told reporters on Friday that he had “no more desire” to add new players than he did before the injury issue.
“We’ve had one transfer window,” he explained. Nobody would have predicted that we’d be able to complete everything in one transfer window.
“We had a really positive window in terms of the players we brought in all making an impact; obviously, we have a couple who are injured at the moment, but there’s no denying all of the players we’ve brought in have made a massive impact to the football club.” That was the first stage.
“Sometimes, circumstances force you to put things to the test that you might not have had to if we hadn’t had all the injuries.”
“So I’m giving the other players a chance to see where they fit in and to be a part of what we’re trying to build here.” That is where we are right now.”
