Tottenham are having a good season since they are performing above expectations under new manager Ange Postecoglou. Of course, they have fallen down the table since their incredible start to the campaign but back then, if you would ask any Tottenham fan if they’d be happy to be fourth in the table in April, they’d have said yes all day long.
As proud as Ange Postecoglou will be of his new team, he will not be satisfied yet. The Australian coach is an excellent man-manager so he will know that he is capable of squeezing so much more out of this current crop of Spurs players.
Also, with the excellent recruitment team always working wonders at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Ange will be aware that more excellent faces will arrive in the summer transfer window. However, before Spurs can consider new signings, they must first ponder which players to let go of.
There are some obvious examples of Tottenham players who are on thin ice before the summer transfer window. Most notably, there are some loaned out players who have not impressed. Otherwise, there are current Tottenham players who are not in the long-term plans of Ange Postecoglou.
Ange Postecoglou will sell Tottenham academy graduate after five years
According to a report from Football Insider, Tottenham would accept an offer if it came in for Troy Parrott. Currently on loan at Excelsior in the Netherlands, Parrott does not make the long-term strategy under Ange Postecoglou. Therefore, Spurs deem it necessary to sell him in the summer transfer window.
I must say, this has been coming. After all, Parrott runs out of contract in North London next summer (2025), therefore, it was highly unlikely that Spurs would send him out on another loan spell when they could risk losing him for free.
Thankfully, Parrott is an academy graduate. Therefore, regardless of the fee which Tottenham manage to maintain when they sell Parrott, they will generate a profit.
Of course, it is unfortunate to lose a player who came out of the academy without him being given a real chance. The fact of the matter is, though, that Ange Postecoglou is at the helm now and if there are past decisions he doesn’t agree with, then Spurs owe it to him to allow his own autonomy.
