‘Another level’… Destiny Udogie admits he enjoys playing alongside his £22 million Tottenham teammate.

Destiny Udogie admits he enjoys playing with Tottenham Hotspur captain Heung-Min Son.

The defender spoke to Spurs Play about scoring his first goal for Tottenham against Newcastle United on Sunday.

Heung-Min Son put in an outstanding performance for Spurs over the weekend, grabbing two assists and a goal to help them defeat Newcastle 4-1.
Spurs were off to a good start when the 31-year-old beat Kieran Trippier before setting up Destiny Udogie for a simple tap-in.

It was a captain’s performance at a time when Tottenham desperately needed one after failing to win in their previous five games.

Udogie has spoken about his captain, Son, after opening his account for Spurs and signing a new long-term contract with the club.

Tottenham captain Son is praised by Udogie.

Udogie spoke with Tottenham’s media team about his first goal for the club. The Italian full-back praised Son and admitted he enjoys playing alongside him and Dejan Kulusevski.

“I think playing with Sonny and Deki [Kulusevski] was really simple because obviously Sonny is a top player and it’s so easy to play with him,” Udogie told reporters. “The connection just happened.

“When I get the ball, I try to find him and I think he does the rest, he gave me the assist.”

After scoring his first goal for Spurs, Udogie was jokingly asked if he will compete with Son for the Golden Boot.

“No,” he said, laughing. “I believe Sonny is on another level.” But we’ll have to wait and see.”

Son has excelled under Ange Postecoglou’s tutelage this season, and he is back to his best after a difficult campaign last year.

Son-Heung-min
This season, the £22 million man has mostly played as a striker, scoring 10 goals in 16 Premier League appearances.

Nonetheless, he returned to the left side on Sunday, and it’s safe to say his level of performance did not suffer.

Out wide, the South Korean star looked a real threat and linked up brilliantly with Udogie. It will be interesting to see if Postecoglou keeps Son out wide, as the front three of Son, Richarlison, and Brennan Johnson performed admirably against Newcastle.
