As a result of Southampton’s progress; Leeds United are now favourites to recruit Swansea City’s Joel Piroe.

According to the Daily Star, Leeds United are the favourites to sign Swansea City striker Joel Piroe.

Despite interest from Southampton, the newspaper reported in its print edition (24 August, page 40) that the Whites are in pole position to sign the 24-year-old.

The Dutchman has 41 Championship goals in 88 outings for Swansea and is Daniel Farke‘s favourite target.

Encouraging

Leeds are in desperate need of forward signings, and this update will delight fans.

According to the Daily Mail (August 23), the Whites have made a £10 million bid for Piroe and are in talks with his representation.

They will hope that it is enough to close the deal, but it serves as a statement of purpose to obtain his signature and a message to Piroe himself that he is valued by the club.

If Leeds want to gain rapid promotion back to the Premier League, they must score at least one goal every game this season. Piroe has an excellent Championship goalscoring rate, averaging nearly a goal every other game.

Fans may be concerned that the club is deferring much of their transactions until the end of the window. According to LeedsLive (August 23), the Whites hope to quadruple their new signing total and bring in four more players before the end of the summer.

While ambitious, it is a tall order, and the club must have deals in place for possible signings if they are to succeed. A deal for Piroe, on the other hand, appears to be more likely than other targets.

Leeds have been unable to get a main striker. In their first three Championship games, the team has used three different strikers, with Willy Gnonto, Joe Gelhardt, and Georginio Rutter all leading the line.

Fans will be hoping that Piroe can establish himself as Farke’s first-choice forward and continue his goal-scoring success at Elland Road.
